Last week, Acer took the curtains off its new Iconia tablets, the Acer Iconia A1-830 and Iconia B1-720. First up, the A1 sports a 7.9” IPS display with a resolution of 1,024 x 768. Powered by a 1.6GHz Atom processor, it comes with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. Other specs include Android 4.2.1 out of the box, 5MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera. Designed with an aluminum back, the Iconia A1 is one of the top tablets from Acer with an affordable price under RM500. The Iconia B1 on the other hand is a lower-end tablet that runs on Android Jelly Bean out of the box. It packs a 1.3GHz dual-core MediaTek processor beneath its 7” 1,024 x 600 display, with 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of expandable storage. For a slightly cheaper price compared to the A1, Acer only packed in one camera at the front with VGA resolution and replaced the aluminum backing with a textured plastic one. Retailing just USD$20 cheaper than the A1 (USD$130), frankly speaking, with a lousier specs and design, it isn’t even worth considering over unless of course, that 0.9” size difference matters that much to you. The Iconia A1 was originally priced at USD$180 but Acer made a last minute price adjustment down to USD$149.
