AMD’s Kaveri A-Series

Almost exactly one year ago, AMD have briefly mentioned about a new APU codenamed “Kaveri” during its CES 2013 press conference. Built using 28nm manufacturing process, Kaveri is designed to succeed the existing Trinity / Richland APU families and is said to be the most advanced APU from AMD to date. This is due to the features that the company has built into Kaveri such as AMD’s new “Steamroller” CPU core and Graphics Core Next-based GPU as well as the support for AMD TrueAudio technology, Mantle API, and Heterogeneous System Architecture features. Originally, Kaveri was scheduled for release in the second half of 2013 but as you can guess, that somehow didn’t happen. The new release date for the Kaveri APU series has now been set to 14 January 2014, according to the announcement that AMD has made during its CES 2014 press conference yesterday. For starters, the new AMD Kaveri A-Series APU will be made available in two models for desktop PCs: the AMD A10-7850K and the AMD A10-7700K, both with AMD Radeon R7 graphics processor.
